LG Electronics USA announced the retail launch of its new plug-and-play monitoring solution and home automation hub, LG Smart Security – the first device to be secured by ADT CanopyTM, a new no-contract service for 24/7 professional monitoring. Conventional ADT security systems require multi-year contracts which are clearly being challenged by security systems providers like SimpliSafe, for example.
“Professional installation is one of the biggest barriers for any consumer electronics product, which is why we took great care to ensure LG Smart Security provides professional functionality in a plug-and-play device,” said David VanderWaal, vice president of marketing, LG Electronics USA. “With the incorporation of ADT Canopy, consumers now can enjoy best-in-class professional security monitoring and the convenience of a featured-filled, easy-to-use device.”
How does it work? Video is delivered to homeowners’ mobile device, tablet or computer thanks to a Full HD camera with digital zoom capability. The LG Smart Security camera can capture virtually an entire room with minimal image distortion, as it features a 130-degree field-of-view. Users can even monitor their homes at night thanks to the device’s night vision capability with up to 15 feet of visibility.*
All these functions are housed in the device’s discreet, modern design that allows it to blend subtly into any room. LG Smart Security weighs less than a pound and is just five inches tall. . The CES product innovation committees gave LG’s Smart Security the coveted 2016 Red Dot Product Design Award.
