This table lamp should be called “Light your Heart”.  It’s actual name is “One From the Heart”.  This playful if not a little wacky light…… is always a conversation piece.  For starters it has  what its designer Ingo Maurer calls “touch tronic”- touch the metal plates at the bottom and the fixture turns on.  The longer your fingers touch the surface the brighter the light.

While I am not sure what the two crocodiles at the base are all about the mirror near the top creates an interesting effect.  As light shines into it the angle of the mirrored heart bounces a light “heart” shape on to surrounding surfaces.  In other words, the light exists not only at and immediately around the fixture but a more dynamic light shape appears somewhere in the room.  This adds an interesting design dimension throughout a room.

Ingo Maurer created this fixture in 1989 but it is not well known.

It is easy to find from a variety online sellers and retails for around $600.00.

I love this little unique light though I am bit dismayed over the fact the red plastic “spines” faded over time.  Also,  the heart would benefit from better assembly of its parts.
