Green Home Decor – Cardboard Desks

Green Home Decor – Cardboard Desks

Joining in on the trend of going green, many artists continue to make home improvement products from repurposed trash and everyday materials that we tend to throw out without a second thought. One of these artists, 3D design student Savio Ku, has put an eco-friendly spin on the saying that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Ku has put together an entire set of home office furniture completely made of recycled cardboard worth about $30.00.

Ku’s collection of home decor includes a desk with shelving, freestanding shelving units, side tables and just for the fun of it a radiator which to allude to real life home repair. All of it is made of corrugated cardboard, and is collapsible—perfect for storage.  As shown in the photo the Paperweight Desk is advertised as accommodating weight. It has a glossy white finish resembling a regular wood or metal desk, and even has a cable management compartment in the back for managing the tangled wires of your electronic gear.

While Ku does not plan on producing these in bulk to be sold to the masses, his home improvement ideas seem to have sparked a product that interested consumers can buy for around $225.00.

For those with both an eye toward eco-conscious living and a desire for artistic home décor Ku’s unique furniture collection should hit the mark. It is the kind of home décor you might soon find in the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) catalog and gift shop.
